The charging port on your phone is a little collection point for dust and dirt, and not many people realise that it needs cleaning on a regular basis. You might find that one day your phone refuses to charge, and it’s probably because the charging port is full of fluff. We have protective cases and screens to protect the phone from general wear and tear, but nothing to protect the charging port, hence the reason we need to keep this vital aspect of the phone nice and clean.
Before you start cleaning, make sure the phone is off. You can use a toothpick to gently dislodge any fluff lurking in the port, but be very gentle and don’t prod too far, and definitely don’t use any metal tools. Some suggest you can use compressed air to clean out the port, or a soft bristled toothbrush or paintbrush.
