If your contract is due for renewal soon and you’re keen to get the latest technology, then September will be a big month. Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 8 will be revealed on 12th September, and the Samsung Note 8 launches mid-month.
As ever with Apple, they’re cagey about the details and there will certainly be a surprise or two, but the leaks suggest the flagship product will be called the iPhone X. It will have wireless charging, an edge to edge display with no home button, and facial recognition (removing the need for a fingerprint scanner). It’s expected that there will be two other handsets released at the same time – the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus.
If you prefer Android and like a big screen, then the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 launches on 15 September – full details here. After the debacle with Note 7, which had the unfortunately tendency to occasionally overheat and catch fire (resulting in some appalling worldwide PR), we can hopefully assume that Samsung have got everything right this time!
