An image that contains, 3 separate images of people talking on their smartphones. Two men at the top, and a woman at the bottom, all appear to be in business settings. In the bottom right hand corner is the blue icon for adding people to a conference call.

Did you know you can run a conference call right from your phone?

Most people think you need Zoom, Teams, or some fancy app to run a group call. But here’s a little secret: your iPhone or Android smartphone can handle simple conference calls all by itself—no extra software needed. You can merge multiple calls into one, and boom—you’ve got your own mini phone conference.

This isn’t always enabled by default at network level, so ask your provider like Simpatico to check your number and activate it if necessary.

Here’s how it works:

Conference Call on iPhone (iOS)

  1. Start a regular call with someone.
  2. While you’re on the line, tap Add Call.
  3. Dial the second person’s number and wait for them to answer.
  4. Now tap Merge Calls—everyone’s on the same line.
  5. Repeat the process to add more people (most carriers let you have up to 5).

Conference Call on Android

(Android menus vary a little by phone brand, but the idea’s the same.)

  1. Call your first participant.
  2. While you’re connected, tap Add Call.
  3. Dial the next person and wait until they pick up.
  4. Tap Merge (sometimes labelled Merge Calls or Conference).
  5. Keep adding people as your carrier allows.

That’s it! No apps, no logins—just your phone’s built-in calling feature. Next time you need to quickly huddle with a few people, give it a try.
