The new Samsung Galaxy 22

Every year, about late August, there’s a large amount of build-up — and exposure — around the release of the new iPhone. Seen as the current peak of mobile phone technology, it’s an impressive piece of kit.

But look to the opposite end of the calendar — about now, in fact — and you’ll see there’s no small following behind the release of the latest Samsung device, too.

Launched on the 9th of February 2022, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series consists of the S22, the S22+ and the S22 Ultra. It’s due for release on the 25th of February and boasts some great features and specs that, in some respects, exceed the iPhone 13.

As is the current trend amongst all mobile phones, Samsung has developed the camera and video capabilities for the S22 series, with improved low-light photography or ‘nightography’ and more frames per second. So, when capturing those late-night socials (whilst the rest of us are tucked up in bed), you’ll get better light sensitivity, less glare, and far superior results.

The S22 series has three rear cameras; an ultra-wide lens at 12MP, a wide lens at 50MP and a 10MP lens capable of 3x zoom. Plus, there’s the 10MP selfie camera, too. Not to be left out, however, alongside the improved stabilising system, the video specs behind the S22+ suggest it is cable of more frames per second than the iPhone Pro Max (8K@24fps versus 4K@24fps), meaning sharper and steadier videos!

Although the iPhone 13 Pro Max is slightly pricier, the Samsung S22+ is only a little smaller, noticeably lighter, and more durable with Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and the back. And it has a massive 8GB RAM over the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s 6GB.

When it comes to dust and water resistance, though, the iPhone wins out. The S22+ offers protection at 1.5m depth for 30 mins, whereas the iPhone 13 Pro Max gives water resistance up to 6m! So, if you are going to drop your Samsung into a swimming pool — and we don’t recommend this — please, drop it in the shadow end!

Although there’s not so much difference between the S22 and the S22+ (the S22+ charges faster and is slightly larger), there are a lot of differences from the Ultra. There’s the 40MP selfie camera, the additional 108MP rear camera, a whole lot more storage options, and a 500ppi display. But as you can imagine, it’s also double the price.

Overall, with the developments above, a longer battery life and improved chip speed, we’d say the S22 series is well worth the investment. So, if you’d like to upgrade to one of the new Galaxy S22 series, get in touch; we can pre-order yours now!
